Exhaust Manifold Interchange between 67 and 66 ?
Hi:
I am aiming to replace my Toronado 67 Exhaust Manifolds with other ones that I am planning to purchase and ceramic jet coat.
My car is Located in Argentina and I do no want the original current ones out during the time this process will take and I will travel to pick them up, so I have located a good pair of manifolds but the numbers corresponds to a 66 not a 67.
My up to 72 Oldsmobile Parts Catalog indicates for a the following part numbers
66 Tor. RH #387992
66 Tor. LH #399425
67-69 Tor. LH #399425
67-72 Tor. RH #395752
So clearly they are not the same so my question is are they anyway interchangeable?, and why and why not?. As always any help is appreciated.
Best
Raul

The problem with using a newer parts book is that part numbers get superseded.
The original manifolds were:
1966 P/N 387992 (casting no. 387992) RH and P/N 392851 (casting no. 387993) LH
1967 P/N 395752 (casting no. 395752) RH and P/N 392851 (casting no. 387993) LH
1968 P/N 395752 (casting no. 395752) RH and P/N 399425 (casting no. 398705) LH
Note that part number does not necessarily match casting number.
P/N 399425 (casting 398705) fits back to 1966 but has ribs for the hot air stove that was not used on the 1966-67 cars. It will work fine but won't be optically correct.
You be the judge comparing 387992 and 395752.

Thank you Joe!, as always precise and complete info. I suspected the catalog date may be an issue but never suspected part numbers can be different to casting number!. All in all LH sides are interchangeable between 66 and 67, for my application RH side will not match with existing exhaust pipe, the neck seems way longer to me, I think I will disassembled existing ones and pay for an expedite treatment so I can carry back with me on the same trip. Once again indebted to you. Best. Raul.

My 69 Parts Book shows the same exhaust pipes for RIGHT side for 66 and 67 Toro, #389826 front.
For the LEFT side, that's where a difference is shown for front pipes - #389827 for 1966, and 395183 for 1967 - BTW, the 67 numbers are good through 1969, and the rear pipes are good for all years, 66 thru 69.
If you're sticking with your original parts, this info is not needed, but I thought I'd document as it is interesting and maybe useful to someone else.
