Dipstick and tube
Hello!
I purchased a 1966 toronado and discovered that the dipstick is a generic dipstick cable with a locking collar to stop at the top of the tube. The previous owner said he broke the stick and fashioned this type. I'm asking if I found a dipstick and tube from a 425 motor would they all work? Is there some differences to the toronado dipstick and tube?

It took some searching in the Olds Parts Book, but finally found them, called "Engine Oil Level Indicator" (dipstick) and its "Guide" (tube).
While all 400/425 applications use the same tube for 1965-1967 (#389375), the dipstick is unique to Toro for 1966-1967 (#390378). So it appears you need limit your search accordingly. Good luck.

As torotoyguy says, the tube is the same across various blocks. I thought I had a Toro and a regular 425 dipstick to show as a comparison here, but figured out that while my Toro stick is correct, the other is from a 68-72 Cutlass 350. Might help in this instance anyway… here are the two side by side - the Toro has the wavy bends:
When comparing them, the “Full” mark is in the same location, but the “Add” is slightly off:
The part numbers are on the shaft - lower is the Toro, upper is the Cutlass:
I inserted the Cutlass dipstick into my 425 and it came out reading at the exact same “Full” level as the proper Toro dipstick. Bottom line, if you get the proper dipstick tube and you are in a pinch, the 68-72 Cutlass dipstick will give you a proper Full reading until you find the Toro stick you want.
