Now that I have replaced the roof rail and door seals on my Toronado. I am on the hunt for replacement belt line seals which should be the final step to keep weather out and to help stabilize the window glass even further. The outer belt line seals for the most part look to be in decent shape but need to be re-attached near the front edge which appears to be tricky to do with the glass in place. Would be nice to be able to get the whole strip off and repair or replace it off the car without removing the glass.
The inner seals on the other hand are in really rough shape especially on the passenger side. That seal appears to be part of a whole assembly that includes the chrome strip and is easier to work on, off the car.
The other consideration is whether the inner fuzzy is a closed unit or whether it is essentially a "V" that closes up when the window is raised. I tried taking a photo of the end of the unit and it almost looks like it is a closed unit but I can't be sure.
After doing a lot of research, I have come up with the following possible replacements inner and outer belt line seals. They are slightly off dimensionally in terms of height and the chrome strip is a little off but the overall length is plenty enough to trim down to the 38.5 inch length required. The question on the inner, is there enough length on the free end to fully close up properly to the seated end. Also what is the best way to mount this to upper panel. I would assume glue.
For the outer's I may iniitally see if I can find a way glue the loose front edge back in place.
So does anyone have experience replacing these seals and is anyone aware of where the proper replacements seals can be sourced? Or based on experience will these work?
