'66 Leaf spring bushings

I think that the engineers who designed the 1st gen Toronados must have been smoking some heavy stuff.

Has anyone ever looked at that forward leaf spring bushing/mount? Good grief, what were they on? The nut for the bolt is accessible on the outside of the frame, between the body, with the open end of a wrench, maybe the box end if you're lucky. The head of the bolt, however, is recessed in a hole in the body where it mounts to the frame. It's pretty deep in there too, you can't touch it with your fingers (at least I can't).

God help you if you snapped that bolt off. Not only that, but if the bolt is seized in the bushing you're gonna have quite a time with that RH side with the rubber fuel lines right there. I guess you would have to torch off the bolts from underneath.......yikes. What a horrible looking job. It really looks like a "torch only" situation to me.

I checked, the nut is only accessible with the open end of a wrench. That's pretty lousy. I don't suppose it's a welded in nut?

Some pics of these beauties:
