1970 toro part - alternative relay

hello.

we found a relay, that is not working right.
it is on the front right side above the wheel house.
(front right in driving direction)

the problem is, that there is no partnumber on it,
that we could could recode it. maybe someone else
know a alternative, we can recode it.

here is the pic:

Looks like the horn relay to me! Replacements available at Rockauto...

What is it not doing? It is a costly sucker, so make sure it is the suspect for sure.

Is that a cover for it by your finger?

thanks for that.

yes, i meant the golden relay.
the black one is a cover, yes.

the relay makes noises all the time,
but if it is only the horn relay, it is
not really a problem.

we had many problems with the electric,
because someone else tried to make it conform
to the european market, but not very professionally.

but the most problems where caused by oxidation.

today the new lights were installed, so we hope that
next week the tüv could take a look on the olds again.

but the problem with the emission data sheet is still actual,
because cars built before 12/69 need to do that emission test
and our olds was build in 2/70 if we could believe the original
stickers.

you can't believe, how we are looking forward, to see the olds
back to the streets.

after this, we have 2 mustangs to do, a '67 with the 455old engine
and a v6tov8 '66 mustang. but both are going in a oldtimer rental.

When dos it make noise and what does it sound like?

On later models (like in '72), this relay also is supposed to chatter, or buzz, when the key is in the ignition, and a door is opened. A crude warning device...

yeah, i know.

that buzzing works, including the inner buzzer,
when you insert the key. but it makes some other
noises, hard for me to explain with my little english.

but also the master of technics here said, that we need
to change that, and i should search for a new one, or a
alternative.

so thanks for your help. i think our supplier could get such one.

do you also know for what i should take a look, if i want a cassette
that fits into the radio?

Sounds strange that that relay is making other noises. It only controls the horn and has the key buzzer in it. The big nut is a junction point where many of the 12V main lines are distributed.
If you unplug the plug at the bottom, it should be silent!

Cassette players are getting hard to find, especially with the two ***** on the sides.
Kenwood makes two players, but they require cutting of the dash - a big taboo!
Best to check around for a used one if you want one at a low price.
As for new, they might still be out there.

The USA1 from custom autosound has a tape player but it is made for a Cutlass - not sure if it would fit your Toro without mods. It is pricy, too!

Another option is to get a radio that uses USB drives, like this one:
http://www.retrosoundusa.com/products/details/id/142
It is for a Cutlass, But i am willing to guess it will fit the Toro, too.

BTW, what country in Europe are you in?
