U joint hitting transmission tunnel
U joint hitting transmission tunnel
I had a new Centreforce clutch installed and I used an Energy Suspension polyurethane transmission mount instead of the stock one. If I accelerate hard the Ujoint thumps on the tunnel. Also one of my shifter links rubs on the tunnel - in otherwords the transmission is higher than it was before I changed the clutch. If I compare the old trans mount to the new one, it is a little lower but not much and the same applies if I compare the old one to a new stock trans mount. Right now there is very little clearance between the tunnel and the Ujoint and shifter linkage.
Is is possible to get a lower transmission mount? The new stock transmission mount is 1 and 7/8 inches high and the Energy Suspension one is slightly higher.
Thanks for your help.

There was a steel plate that came in the package with my Energy Suspension tranny mount that was suppose to go underneath the mount. It was less than 1/8" thick but my u-joint was hitting as well so I removed it. It completely solved the problem and I haven't had any issues with the plate not being installed.
Thanks Mike. We wondered about that but because the instructions said to install that plate, we thought it might need it for stability.
