Unhappy Original ignition switch?

I recently noticed that the key for the driver's door wasn't working all the time. So, I figured I would change the locks so that I don't end up locked out.
I realized that if I change the door locks. I should change the ignition lock also so that they all use the same key. I searched all the big sites for parts.
I thought Fusick the (best site) would have an exact reproduction. What I found was that all the reproduction sites have the same Chevy ignition switch.
I have a 1970 442 & the ignition outside looks very different than the generic Chevy ignition. I ended up getting the Chevy ignition. Does anyone know of a
place that reproduces the original style. Also what a PITA to change the ignition switch. I had to buy a tool to push the lock plate back. To get the "C" clip out
was a job. Also I had to break through the casting to get to release button. The switch works OK but now I have an issue sometimes with the key buzzer. I remove the
key and the buzzer stays on. I have to move the switch in & out to stop it. Not good. Thanks for any help. Sorry about the long post.

Original 1970 442 Ignition switch.

The Chevy (GM) new switch I installed.

Can you re-key your original ignition switch to match the new door locks?

A member of this forum rekeyed the door lock to fit a new lock cylinder for my car. If you can find an old school locksmith, I’m sure they could probably help.

If your careful, you can carefully pry the locking tabs that retain the original Olds style cap and transfer it to the replacement cylinder.

There are not any "locking tabs" on the chrome part....it's just solidly crimped (in three long crimps) over the ignition/key cylinder and I seriously doubt you'll have any luck removing it. Get yours re-keyed and save yourself the headaches and potential cracked/broken chrome piece if you try to remove it.

Yes The crimps look permanent. I most likely would go with the re-key.
Thank everyone for the help.

If you work carefully, you can straighten the crimps. I did it on my car years ago and the correct olds collar is still on the cylinder.
