Are the auto and manual trans cranks any different?

Yes, the manual crank is drilled for a pilot bearing the auto cranks have to be drilled.

Just to be clear, within a given year and application, the casting or forging is the same. The only difference is that MT cranks have had the bore machined for the pilot bearing. It is common to have an AT crank machined to use it in an MT application.

I'm pretty sure that's the one in the Mondello handbook. Note that the one I posted shows the details of the snap ring groove for the later motors that retained the roller bearing with a snap ring. Your drawing is for the pressed-in version. The key dimension is the bore for the bearing itself. Yours has 1.3770-1.3775 for the pressed bearing. Mine has 1.378-1.380 for the snap ring bearing.

Thanks for the clarification and new print. I did save the recent one also. I like to have correct information and this new print caught me off guard. Do you know the snap ring part number ?

Snap ring part number is 9425556, but you are unlikely to find a GM one. It's a 1 3/8" snap ring for an ID application, available from McMaster Carr, MSC, Fastenal, etc.
