Air conditioning

I hope someone can help me. I just bought a 72 cutlass conv. the car is really nice but has no air. When I called Vintage Air they said there kit would not work on non a.c. car and I would have to piece together system. I felt like I was already bothering sales rep so I didn't ask why. Has any body done a conversion before? Any help would be appreciated.

This subject came up several months ago when Vintage Air first announced their new kit. They told several people at that time that they were working on a complete kit for non a/c cars but it wasn't ready yet. I'm surprised they didn't tell you about it. They're usually pretty good.

Vintage air is working on the kits for non-A/C cars and I bet they will be ready in a couple of months. They used my car to proto a 1969 A/C car and I could not be happier with the results.

Thanks for the help. I was on hold for a long time with vintage air so I think I called at the wrong time. I will try again next week.

I would be interested in their reaction to mine. Originally it had air. Now all gone with no heat and a smoothed firewall. Original kick panel vents installed in place of the solid ones. Nothing under the dash. I set it up for aftermarket ac and ran out of money at the time. Classic Auto Air at that time offered only a hot rod do it yourself kit. But had the brackets for the 455. Vintage did not. I would like to see there new kit also with correct brackets.

There was a guy in here who use Classic Auto Air on his car and it cost around $800 for a 134A kit. But his car is already setup for an a/c. It doesnt hurt to call Classic Auto Air and im sure they wont put you on hold for a long time.
