I will be doing my springs and shocks at the end of the season and here is a example of the look I would like.

I know it is not for everyone but I think it just has that 60's 70's muscle look. What shocks and springs would I need to get to achieve this look.

I used Moog 5272 Springs in front and Moog CC507 in the rear Monroe shocks all the way around. I have a BB in mine so your front may be a bit higher.

 

Thanks for the quick response Eric I appreciate it. I will most likes do them end of September so I have a little left in season to enjoy the new springs. I do plan on eventually putting a 455 in mine because I desire more horse power but the original motor runs extremely well and is very reliable. I drive it just about every day during the nice weather and do not hesitate to take on long trips. So hopefully in a year or two I will do the swap so if it sits a little higher in front for a little while is ok it is better then doing it again after swap. I was contemplating changing the rear gears for some more fun in the pedal but don't want to be screaming at 70 80 mph.

 

I was thinking of doing the rear shocks and springs this weekend and waiting to do front until end of season. The reason I want to get rear done ASAP is because when I load the car up with five people it will occasional bottom and I have a few trips planed with a full load. So is it ok to do rear and wait to do front or will it cause other issues.

That's what I did, did the rears, front shocks, and body bushings around the same time and then a couple of years later did the front springs and rebuilt the front end .

 

Eric one last question, I am ordering the Moog CC507 will I need a taller shock.

I don't have a rear swaybar and there were 2 mounting holes for the lower shock mount, I used the upper for now. I think it has settled enough now to go back to the lower one. In hind sight I would have went with a 1-2inch longer stroke. Fronts have not been an issue.

 

That look was popular in the 70's and was usually achieved by just adding air shocks to the rear. High in the back for tire clearance and stock front which went a little lower because the back end was jacked. That look has come and gone but if its what you like then do it. I got my springs from Detroit eaton spring company. It was a simple phone call and told them what i wanted and they sent me exactly what I wanted.

 

I did my front suspension today I used Moog 5244 front springs and have not done the rear yet. That is next. I did upper and lower ball joints, control arm bushings, swap bar bushings and links, idler arm, tie rods, and the springs. Oh and new set of Monroe shocks. It was sagging very badly after all these years. It now sits a little up from what i wanted but it drives awesome and rides nice. I am sure it will settle a little. I will do the rear springs next week. Right now air shocks pumped up.

I just have to get used to the change but do so like how it drives now.
