1967 Cutlass Manual Steering

I have a 1967 CS 442 with manual steering. Is there a method to visually differentiate between "Standard" and the N38 option "Heavy Duty" manual steering ?

The regular manual steering gear box has a 24:1 ratio. The Olds HD box has a 20:1 ratio (there are also 16:1 boxes). Unfortunately the differences are all internal. The 24:1 box requires about six turns lock-to-lock (note that this assumes the stops in the steering linkage don't limit travel of the box). The 20:1 box requires about five turns. The 16:1 box requires about 4 turns (and massive arms).

That being the case, the output shaft on the standard steering box would rotate 15 degrees for every full rotation of the steering wheel while the heavy duty would rotate18 degrees. Not the easiest thing to check but at least I can give it a try.

Thanks for your help.
