Front shocks

After a long hiatus I'm back on the 72 olds . Got the motor back in yesterday and was going to install the front shocks but ran into an issue with the length of the kyb's .even with motor in doesn't seem to have enough weight to install the shocks theyre about an inch too short .the car has new tubular upper and lower control arms and new stock 350 springs . Is it just too stiff at this point ? Should I wait until I get the front clip back on it ? I checked the numbers on the shocks and they are correct.

did you already tighten the lca mounting bolts? They may be holding the car up you should wait for the ful car weight before tightening the lca bolts
