Tamraz Control Arms

Hi Guys,

Anyone know anything about these? Seems like a good deal.

Thanks,

Craig,
I saw those a while ago. Looks good. IIRC they also sell the CAs with bushings so it's a straight bolt in with no fuss and bother. 89 for a new CA is pretty fair IMO!

FYI, I've bought from TAMRAZ before and they didn't disappoint. They don't have as large a selection of Olds parts as some other vendors, but that's the way it goes.

I keep hearing "Cheap Chinese Parts" not necessarily these arms, just wondering if these are Chinese and if it matters? I just need one arm and would love to just bolt it in with little fuss. I have the bushings and ball joints so the stripped down arm is the ticket

Before I bought my Tubular U/L CA Sets I shopped around to see about repro replacements. I ended up buying a set from PartsPlace. They get them overseas which is the same place Tamraz gets his from. I will say they feel thin, they didn't line up correctly I had to beat one with a rubber mallet and it still would not go in. It was off by over 1.4 inch from slipping in. The lower ball joint was murder getting one pressed in and the other side was sloppy. I know repro's or some are required to change the design and I couldn't for the life of me find out what they changed outside of weight and metal. I just hoped it wasn't in the geometry of things. With that said, after a day of fussing with them and the cost I sent it all back and ordered tubular sets with everything already on it instead. Came out to the same money wise. I wouldn't suggest everyone do this, esp if you show your car stock is key. I just wanted something good on price, sturdy, and this is my driver so IDC if it's stock or not.

If you order them check the metal when you get them. I didn't put a mic on them but you can def feel and tell the thickness difference as well as the weight difference. Just my .02

I'll give you the same advice allan gave me.

Find a set of clean, OEM A-arms, give them a sand and some paint, and be done with it. If you're really ambitious, then change the balljoints and bushings.

Unfortunately, on our cars, nothing fits like OEM.

Give John MacNeel a PM. He goes by 2blu442 on the site and he parts these things faster than Moses did the Red Sea. He's also close to you - Medford Oregon.

Ive got an LCA but it's probably way cheaper for you to get something in the states. Shipping from canada is ridiculous.

Craig, why not rebuild the ones you have? It's not hard nor expensive.

My front CAs were rebuilt with poly bushings, moog BJs, sandblasted, powdercoated for $325. Not all that cheap.

IIRC the reason for the CA was because he has 2 different style units on the car and the goal was to have both the same.

I have a good complete set coming off of my 72 Cutlass (Lower Oval bushings in the rear) on Oct 13th. They'll need new bushings and BJs.
I'm replacing them with a set of rebuilt ones on that I mentioned in an earlier post (all round bushings). You can have them for $50 and I'll include new poly Oval bushings if you want them.

Thanks,

I'd look for good used OEM before I'd go aftermarket. Seems every A/M part I try requires *modification* of either the parts itself or its surrounding parts.

Sniff around your local craigslist & don't forget that the arms are the same for the same years Chevelles/Malibus, Skylarks/GS, Tempest/LeMans/GTO, etc...)
