Steering gear replacement - steering wheel misaligned

Hi,
Replaced my worn out steering gear with a new Lares on my ‘70 Supreme. Also replaced the coupler. After taking a road test, noticed the steering wheel is off just a bit. Could this be rectified by removing pitman arm and readjusting? Box was centered (lock-to-lock) and coupler was installed with flat spot aligned. It lined up perfectly with my steering shaft when I put it back in. Wondering if I’m off a tooth or two on the pitman. Any ideas?

The pitman shaft has four wide splines at 90 deg intervals. You can't install it one tooth off. You need to adjust the tie rods to center the wheel.

Thanks Joe. Is this common to need to do if no other suspension components were touched and just the pitman arm was disconnected?

Yes. Manufacturing tolerances add up.
