Ok my question is originally I was told that drop spindles from 92 to96 impalas and caprices would work on my delta 88 since they were both b bodies. Then I was told that s10 drop spindles are the proper fitament can anyone clarify. I've been doing ton of cros referencing and am at a toss up.

 

77-96 GM B body cars are all the same underneath so spindles from the Caprice should work. I believe the S10 spindle works on the G-body and late-70s A-body cars.

The 91-96 Caprice spindles work, EXCEPT for one thing. The Caprices all came with the 12" rotors and 5x5" bolt circle. The 1977-1990 D88s came with the 11" rotors and 5 x 4.75" bolt circle unless you have HD brakes (taxi, police, or 403 packages), in which case they were 12" brakes with 5x5.

If your car uses the 5 x 5" bolt circle now, it's a total bolt-in with all your original brake parts. If your car currently has the 4.75" bolt circle, you need to use the rotors from a 3rd-gen Camaro with the 1LE package. These rotors fit the Caprice spindles, are 12" in diameter, and have the correct 4.75" bolt circle. Unfortunately, if you are running SSII/SSIII wheels, even 15x7, they may not clear the calipers on the Caprice spindles due to the larger rotor diameter.

 

thank you for that info very informative. so i was on ebay and found cpp classic performance parts located in cali and they had drop spindles part 7981 ds listing said they were for 77-78 caprice. so i called and they said they actually list for 79-81 camaros but told me they cross reference for caprice, impalas as well as my delta 88. well before i ordered i contacted jegs because they stock them also and i asked the same question but they said it strictly shows 79-81 camaros any feedback on this. or can anyone just tell me if there is anything available direct bolt on at all. time is of the essence my car is in the shop currently

 

What Joe said is correct. S10, a body, g body, camaro spindels DO NOT FIT

 

Since we're digging up a 7 year old thread...
All of these are dimensionally the same for control arm and tie rod location.

70-78 F-Body
79-81 F-Body (big bearing, but 11" rotor)
73-77 A-Body (11" rotor, small bearing)
77-91 B-Body (5x4.75"= small bearing 11" rotor, 5x5"=big bearing, 12" rotor)
92-96 B-Body (5x5"=big bearing, 12" rotor) Be aware, mid '95 or something they switched to a larger ball joint on police/taxi/limo chassis.

 

I'll just add that if you have the big bearing spindles for the 12" rotors, you can use the third gen 1LE rotors that fit these spindles but have the 5 x 4.75" wheel bolt pattern. Raybestos 5994 or Bendix PRT 1603.
