Anyone know where to get a full set [frt & rear] of Bilsteins for amy 1971 Cutlass Supreme? Seems to be some questions on the rears. Where is the best place to get them at a good price? I'm looking at p/n frt: 24-131506 & rears: 24-009294.
Buggers. I answered the same question for someone about 4 months ago. On my phone now so will have to wait til tomorrow. I put Bilsteins on the front and Monroe coil overs on the rear of my 71 CS convertible.
Internet is your friend - just search the Bilstiein name and your part numbers and run thru your results accordingly. Also check ebay, many vendors sell thru there with free shipping.
I like https://www.shockwarehouse.com/?gcli...SAAEgIJ5PD_BwE - JC Whitney and Summit are also good resources (Summit price matches).
Last, check out the Koni Street shocks series (orange in color) - they're a great alternative to the Bilsteins for a bit less $$ last time I checked. I had the Bilsteins but swapped out to the Konis - more street friendly over rougher road surfaces while still otherwise every bit as capable in all other respects.
part# 8050-1046 and 8050-1047

I'll check out the Koni's. Have had them back in the 1980's. Checked out the link to the shockwarehouse, but they only list the fronts. Had emailed them last week and they said the 24-009294 set for the chevelles SHOULD fit? Best price so far is $348 w/ free shipping. Wonder what the problem is with the back shocks? Fit?
Anybody know if I can get Bilsteins for my ‘66 big cars? 65-70 big cars all used similar sizes, but I’m wondering what, if any, A body shocks might swap in.
KYB quality has fallen off and I’m in the market for good quality, slightly stiffer than stock, shocks. I can find cheap shocks on EBay every day, but I’m looking for quality options.
Guessing this is a no go, but I’d be happy to be surprised, as I was when I was able to put A-body Hotchkiss boxed trailing arms on my big cars to handle rear sway bar stresses.
Suggestions welcome.

Got to agree on the KYB. I installed a set of their cartridges in my 1994 Cutlass Supreme's front struts and one has already taken a dump on me in less than a year. Now I get to do that whole lousy job all over again. My 1996 CS also has the KYB Excel-G 's and I swear it is starting in on them too.
This is an expensive job if you don't do it yourself, so you really only want to do it once. Bilstein's or Koni's for me next time. If they even make them for this car.

Hopefully my KYB last, I just installed them. I am surprised Japanese products have quality issues. My haw dropped with the Koni and Bilstein shocks price. It would have been $800 for 4 up here. Amazon had neither in both front and rear available. They better be dam good for the price and last the life of the car. The KYB were similar in price to Monroe shocks, around $300 for 4 on Amazon Canada. So far I like them, definitely a stiffer shock.

Installed front shocks today. Had brand new non-gas shocks. Car was too float like. Noticed better rebound dampening immediately from the bilsteins. Less boat ride. Will order the rear bilsteins tomorrow. Getting them from the "shockwarehouse". Think that will conclude my suspension upgrades. Not trying to make it a corvette. Pleased with changes so far. Still considering the rear frame braces for the trailing arms though

UPDATE: Rec'd the rear Bilsteins (p/n: 24-009294) They were 20.5" extended length. Sorry, I'm a little light in the butt to give compressed length. The lower large attachment bolt is .493" and the upper tee is .208 thick. The brand new Monroes (p/n: 33082, and maybe P065PC) had an extended length of 21" and collapsed are 13.5". Monroes upper attachment tee is .178 thick and the lower attachment big bolt is .490. Had to get slightly longer upper bolts for the Bilsteins because after tightening no threads were showing past the nuts. Also had to rat tail the lower hole for the slightly larger lower bolt. Also the Bilsteins lower bolt comes with a thick washer ,but once again no threads were past the nylock furnished 3/4" nut. Left washer off. Now have thread and a half showing. Between two small vice grips and some wood wedges this one handed hobbyist conquered the task in about 4 hours.
Now for my impression. I've had KYB gas-adjust on my old 67-442. I've had these Monroe's which seem to be gas shocks. Seat of the pants and my child bride of 56 years evaluation. Modern like ride and much firmer dampening. Especially rebound. We are happy and glad we spent the extra money. We are satisfied with the ride and quality of the Bilsteins. Have a full set of Monroe's I'll try to barter with here locally for ???. Thanks to everyone for there helpful inputs. Car is good right now. We'll see come July the 5th on the oil pan/rear main replacement.

Hi George, I know this is an older thread but wanted to see how you have been liking your Bilstein shocks? I was looking at these for the rear of my 1970 442, but Bilstein America said they would not fit. A bit confused?
Have you found any Bilstein shocks for the front?
