69 cutlass s springs

Hello all!

What kind of aftermarket springs should i be looking into Moog, Hotchkis or stock replacements? I have about "0" suspension experience. I do know as of now, with more than me in the car i have to "be cautious" as to what bumps and whoop-de-whoops i can or cannot cross without fear of dragging bottom. Also, i know that my ride height is at only 8 7/16" in the rear (measured 3/4 to 1" in front of the wheel opening) and 8 1/2" in the front (measured just in front of the rocker).

In a perfect world i would love to have a significantly "stiffer" feel with little to no body roll, basically i dont want to worry about dragging my pretty headers when 3 of my friends want to go cruise to the local strip. I have ordered energy suspension poly bushing for the whole front end but where to go with springs to keep a "similar" ride height? I hope that i described this enough. Thanks all for reading, let the learning begin (for me).

Crap i almost forgot the specs.

Olds 350, #5cast heads
NO A/C
TH350..
bucket seats
stock LT numbered springs (way way to cushy, feels like im driving a whoopdy)
New Monroe shocks( can be changed as well)
I hope that is enough info.

Mike

Well here's a thread I started on front spring replacement for my 69 Cutlass S Hardtop that morphed into a rear spring question as well... Rob and others helped out alot and I love the ride now which coupled with new upper ball joints and front stabilizer links makes the car feel new. Cheers

Thanks guys, yeah im doing all 4. I ended up scoring a rear sway bar last week, this will be a winter project. Ive got a case of the "might as well do it" going on. Thinking of boxing in my trailing arms and re-using them as well. How well does that work out?

I have never used the boxing in sheetmetal thats the parts suppliers have so i cant tell you how that works, I have always purchased a descent used set and had them sandblasted and painted. You can prob get a nice set on ebay from between 130-220, I assume. Last set I bought were 150. Good luck.

l I like it quite a bit. Using edelbrock shocks, with the moog springs you mentioned above for front and back, allow the car to ride much better overall with nicer cornering capabilities. Rides a little higher but I don't mind. In other words the wife isn't flying over to my side on the bench seat every time I make a right turn I've attached some pictures for you to take a look. If you need better pics let me know.
