65 Starfire Removing Front Sway Bar

Im trying to remove the front sway bar and have realised its not coming out easily.
Do I need to remove the lower control arms to get the sway bar out?

The front sway bar on the 65-70 full size cars is difficult to get in and out. On my Delta I installed it with the engine out and it was easier. Jack the car up so the front suspension is at full droop. I seem to recall that I had to slide it in from the side and thread it through the available openings.

Yes as I thought getting the sway bar out is only going to happen with a full
front end tear down. This time around Im not going that far as all Im looking to
do is clean up the paint not rebuild for now.
Guess the bar stays where it is in my way.

Just an update the sway bar does come out but its real tight.
With left hand side wheel removed and steering at full left lock
it is possible to remove the bar.
Now re installing it with all new paint in the front without scratching
it up is going to be a challenge.
