1969 442 Rear Springs

1969 442 - The rear stance is too high on my car. Someone in one of my posts mentioned that my car looked like the rear springs had been replaced with taller springs. I'd like to replace them with factory rear springs if I can find them. Any suggestions on where to purchase?
NOTE: I know it's hard to tell from the picture but it's the best one I have right now. The car's been in my garage since I bought it in November, and I haven't had the chance to take any better pictures. I was standing on a slight incline when this picture was taken before I took delivery of the car. The rear tires are 275/60/15 that are 28" tall. The back end of the car is jacked up and I prefer more of a level or lower rear end look.

Contact Eaton Detroit spring. They have the correct springs.

What size are your front tires? Sometimes a shorter wheel/tire setup in the front can make the rear appear to be jacked up. For example you mention you are running 28" 275/60/15s in the rear. If the fronts are a 26" setup = 2" shorter than the rear it will give the appearance of the rear being jacked up even if the springs are a nice height. 26.5" or even 27" in the front would help with that same example. You may want to check that front tire setup first just to make sure. Swapping in a taller front tire might give you the look you want or at least get it more in the ballpark. The added benefit would be more ground clearance for headers, speed bumps, etc. If your front tires are already "taller" then disregard but in that pic they look like they may be on the shorter side.

Thank you, Joe - Yes, you are correct about the 2" difference. I just bought the car in November 24, the previous owner had brand new Cragar wheels and B.F.G tires installed. The tires are 275/60/15 Rear and 215/65/15 Front. There's a 2" difference between front and rear. I prefer original rally wheels so I'm replacing the Cragar's with original 14's which I already have. I'm going to do the wheels & tires first to see how she sits before replacing springs. Hopefully I won't need to replace the springs but figured I'd search out a source in the meantime just in case it comes to that. I'm still trying to figure out what size tires will fit nicely and not show too much wheel well, have the stance I'm looking for in a 60 series. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks again

I really like the current look. Stance is AOK to me. Do the rear tires rub?

Beware 14" tire selection is limited. 15s fill out the wheel wells and have more size choices.

68-72 factory front & rear ride height sits just a touch too low (for me). The car looks gawky, or overloaded and dragging its ***.
But I also grew up in the "jack it up to see the gas tank, paint the pumpkin, sky jacker air shock" era...what were we thinkin.

I don't like the view out the rear window at factory ride height. Everyone's headlights shine right at ya. Whereas up an inch or two is better.
And I'm going back 40+ years ago before these unbelievably STUPIDLY WAY TOO BRIGHT LED headlights existed.

Interested in selling those wheels shoot me an IM.
You probably live in Prudhoe Bay Alaska right?
Steve

Here is mine with new 15x7s. 255/60s rear 235/60s front. Note the level stance. BFGs are soon to be replaced with something better, Red lines perhaps(?) or black walls.

With 235/70R14
Same rear springs

Gawky dragging ***.

I tend to agree, I never cared for the stock suspension setup on these cars. I like a SLIGHT rake, just enough to provide a little attitude.

And 14 inch rims look puny on these cars.
