1967 442 with A/C Coil Springs
Does anyone know what the specifications are for the front coil springs for a 1967 442 400-4sp-A/C car ? Specifically coil diameter, ID, OD & free length. I can measure everything off my car except the free length since the springs are still on the car.
The chassis manual calls for a ride height of 9 1/2 inches in the front and my car is sitting at 8 1/4 - 8 1/2. That indicates to me that these are the original springs.
The chassis manual calls for SY springs and the Interchange guide I have calls for RP but neither give any detail as to the specifications.
I want to get the car back to the correct 9 1/2 ride height.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the details you are requesting, but you can order replacement springs from Eaton Detroit Springs' website through a simple drop-down style menu. Below is what I came up with for your ride. You may want to visit the site and do your own poking around. This outfit was an OEM spring supplier back in the Muscle Car era. They know their stuff. Note the drop-down in the Eaton No. column. Select your desired length here; lowered, raised, stock...

Back In The Game, thank you for the response, I had spoken to Eaton as well as MOOG and a few others. My issue was that none of them had any original GM (OLDS) specs for the origianl springs so it was impossible to determine the original spring rate target. My concern was that my original springs had a wire diameter of 0.696"-0.698" and Eaton as an example had a wire diameter of 0.640". That means that Eaton had to have a different ID/OD/Free Length in order to obtain the correct spring rate.Even if I took the old springs out and measured them it is unlikely that the free length would have been the same after 55 years making a spring rate calculation iffy at best. I did get in contact with ESPO in Danville, PA and they were extremely helpful. Great people to work with. I now have my replacement springs on order along with their front end kit and hope to have the front end completed by mid April. Thanks again for your help !
