coil springs

Trying to purchase the right coil springs for my 1970 Cutlass Supreme SX convertible. The more I look, the more confused I get. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Mike

Check out Eaton Detroit Spring, they should be able to help you out.

The "right" springs kinda depends upon what stance and level of firmness you want.

I went for the FE2 style setup for my car. I was able to get the same front ride height as the old original springs with Moog 5536 springs, which are much stiffer than the originals. I wanted these for better handling and they do that while maintaining a smooth, comfortable ride.

I used "442" advertised rear springs from PST before I really knew much about springs, and they raised the rear a bit higher than the factory springs. I think the Moog 5409 should be a good match for the 5536 front springs.

Not sure where you are located but I bought a set of rear springs a few years back from, possibly USA parts. According to the assembly manual the car is supposed to sag slightly in the rear, but I'm not a fan of that look. You can have them free-o if you want them, they are only taking up space here.

Look in my profile, the picture with the top up is about where they sit.

Springs

Hairyhurst is right.. Detroit springs knows springs! When I ordered from them the salesman knew the part numbers for the 62' Starfie without going to a computer. Pretty impressive.

I'll "third" that sentiment. Go to their web page and input your year, make and model, and a chart with a range of possibilities pops up to fit your application. You can choose from shorted (to lower your ride), through stock, and on up to lengthened (to raise your ride). VERY easy to do business with and mine arrived in just a few days.
