My H/O has been driving great since I started driving early summer. I only been driving around town limits but I finally did some highway driving and when I got to around 60mph felt like car wouldn't accelerate and engine was abou to cut off. Once I slowed down car was driving fine, sped back up around 55 mph and felt same thing. Had to slow down and tried to give car gas but car wouldn't accelerate. Car never cut off but felt like it was. I dont have this problem driving around town.

 

Unfortunately, this could be caused by a large number of possible items. Weak fuel pump, clogged filter sock in the tank, bad ignition coil or other ignition related parts, incorrect float setting or heavy float deteriorated by ethanol, improperly adjusted secondary air valve spring or sticking air valve, etc, etc.

 

I had this exact problem. Have you run the gas tank down to near empty recently? Change out your fuel filter first. Cheap, easy and my personal candidate for failure. Cut it open and see the sand inside.

 

I did run the tank down to near empty. I will change out fuel filter. Sounds like a good start.

 

Try and get a replacement gasket at the same time. The last few filters I've bought didn't come with them, and the store wasn't able to order new ones.
