I have a 73 delta 88 royale 2dr and the 350 rocket engine is knocking real real bad, what I am wondering is god forgive me will a chevy 350 bolt right in. I have been having trouble finding rebuild kits for the car, I have been told it will be hard to find them, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. steve

 

The 350 Chevy is not an bolt-in swap. Rebuild kits are not hard to find, either are running 307s, 350s, or 403s, all of which will bolt right in.

 

It can be done. Not an easy swap.
You may try your local Craigslist
to see if there is a small block Olds
engine available in your area.

You may also start a thread in the parts
wanted section. There are fellows here
that may have just the engine you need
for a straight bolt in. The 307 330 350 403 is
pretty much as easy as it will get.
Does it have to be rebuilt or will a good used
one do for now?

A Chevy swap would entail not only the engine but also a transmission, your current trans will not work. The most economical route is what the others suggested or rebuilding yours.

There are fresh crate engines in the after market if you don't want to deal with rebuilding yours. Don't cost any more than a similarly assembled bowtie, but all your existing accessories will just bolt right up. If you go bowtie, figure replacing everything that bolts to the engine as well. If you're thinking of getting a wrecker yard chevy with all it's accessories and such, you're 50-50 on bolting in someone else's troubles.
