Offenhauser 5587
Offenhauser 5587
Just bought a used Offy 5587 dual quad and am looking for advice/opinions on using this intake along with a vintage set of Hooker Headers.
I have two directions possible:
1.) Heating up my '70 350 motor (#7 Heads) or,
2.) Building a '79 Olds Diesel Block I have into a high hp motor.
Either way would be a rebuild to one extent or another. I'd like to just "do it once & be done with it", as budget is always an issue. Thanks in advance for your input..........

Thanks, 67...... good to keep in mind.
Hi CaptJim, if I use the '70 350, the dual quad would be for the 'nostalgia look' more than a horsepower monster - BUT
the 350 Diesel block makeover would nothing short of NASTY hp! The bottom end can take it and would need plenty of intake.
Probably the wise thing to do would be to freshen up the '70 motor, buy a more modest intake, and use that setup in my '69.
BUILD the 350 dual offy monster and replace the sbc in my '74 GMC....
