need help deciding the best exhaust!!!! HELP

so currently i have a 2 1/2in single exhaust tube on my 72 cutlass with glass packs that dumps before the the axle....it sounds good but i want to upgrade a little bit here is where i need help..... ive read that a 3in exhaust would be too big for my little rocket 350 small block because its basically a waste...but later down the line i want to put in a new manifold with a 4bbr carb and good cam. so would that 3in exhaust work then?...like once i got that stuff done?

here is my ideal exhaust setup
-headers with 3in colector
-electronic cutoff valve just after headers
-3in straight pipes leading to flowmaster super44's
tell me what ya think this has been bothering me for a whle now
ps im also wondering would straight or h pipes would sound best for that deep muscle growl

Go to your local muffler shop and get a 2 1/2 system custom fabricated with your muffler of choice. If your going to do headers, now is the time!

I have 2.5 from exhaust manifold to tip with Magnaflow mufflers. I love em! There's no sound like em. Quiet enough at idle, but light it up and they really sing!

I run 2 1/2 on my BB, straight pipes to turbo mufflers, turned down at the rear bumper. A nice mellow ol school sound.

Pick your set of headers:

The pro is what everyone outside the car hears! The con is the resonance of all the noise you hear. Get a very hi powered amp for your stereo!

Another con is the amount of fumes that enter the cabin, some are hazadous to your health.

The other issue, is your personal fragrance will be "Ode de Tailpipe"! Some girls like it, and it can be an aquired taste!
