best carb for 69 350-Please help

I asked this before with no answer! can anyone tell me what would be the stock # for a rochester quad for a 1969 350 using a edelbrock intake #3711.

I have read other post that say the rochester is the better carb to use, so I want to know what # carb I should be looking for in a 1969 with a 350

Thanks.

Hi Troy
You could use one of many different quadrajets, although the numbers matching one for your 1969 350 would be 7029250. Since your using an aftermarket intake I don't think the factory choke would work. If it has a place for the hot air tube to go into the intake, you might want to look for an early 70's carb. I went to Brothers Automotive and found their list of Oldsmobile carbs and applications. Some examples would be: 7040250 is 1970, 7041250 is 1971, 7042250 is 1972 and each year used a 251, 252, 253 etc. for different applications. If your intake doesn't have a hot air tube you might have to consider an electric choke. I believe you can get them aftermarket to fit a Quadrajet but am not positive.

As long as your choke is not divorced, you can easily convert the choke to electric! They are a dime a dozen at a salvage yard. I say stick with a rochester. It should be better for street use.

Q-jet for the street and strip. I also agree that the Elec. choke is a great way to go for ease of hook-up and driveability. Once you locate a carb, post details of your combo and we can give you some hints on correct calibration .
