57 Olds headers
57 Olds headers
I switched my stock engine and tranny to a 350/350 Chevy combo in my 57 Olds. The headers are custom made by a friend.
Now those headers starts to worn out and leaking at the block. The plate is too thin anyway, so I guess it wouldn´t last long.
Are there any aftermarket headers that will fit to that combo, or does anybody out there put the same combo into a 57 Olds, and can give me an advice ????
Thanks alot for your help !!!!

If your custom headers are leaking it is probably because your Chevy block is starting to melt from the extreme heat. I suggest getting an Olds engine and replacing that Chevy block before it tanks.
Truthfully, I suggest you install a good set of quality header gaskets. It will be next to impossible to find headers for your application unless you get shorty headers that happen to fit.

Hi Olds64,
Yes, true. It really seems that I will have to find somebody that can fabricate me new custom headers. Thats the bad thing, when when you have something special.
But for now I´m gonna try new gaskets, of course.
But I don´t give up the hope that somebody comes up with an idea............

You might consider removing the heads and checking them with a "true" bar and feeler gauges. If the gasket surface is warpped then you might not be getting a good seal. If it is not true then you can have the heads machined. You can also check the headers to see if they are true.
