OLDS 371 1957 Oil Filter relocation & HEI

Anybody know where I can purchase an oil filter relocation kit for my 371?

Also, anyone have comments regarding replacement of the original distributor with an HEI unit?

Thank you! Gene

Someone else can answer your oil filter relocation question. There are no off the shelf large cap HEI for your engine. You can use a point replacement kit or convert your existing distributor into a small cap HEI, Dave Ray performs this service.

You can use a Pertronix conversion for your current distributor. Contact Ross Racing about an oil filter relocation. If they don't have one then I don't know where you would find one. Are you wanting to relocate it or just convert to a spin on filter.

I'd like both, relocation and conversion to a spin on!

Just get an oil filter housing from a later 394 that uses a spin on filter. It's bolt on and solves the 'I don't want to use a canister' problem. As far as HEI, just go with an under cap conversion or go send it to the guy mentioned above. You don't have room to use an actual HEI big cap distributor- there's not enough clearance with the firewall anyways
