Hey there I have a 72 supreme with stock 350 was under hood today just evaluating things, saw these two parts and have a few questions. The first part is on the passenger side valve cover with hose that runs up under the air cleaner, cover. What is this, oil breather? It is shiny now because I wiped it off but it was completely covered with what looked like oil, I assume this is not good, time to replace? The second part looks like something emissions related, it is the cylindrical piece in the pic it is located in front of the accelerator spring and it looks like it should have a hose attached to front but it is broken, what is this? should It be re-attached if so to what? Thank you.....I tried to attach pics hope they came through

^^^This.
To add to the description, the breather on the valve cover connects to a filter inside the air cleaner housing. You can replace that filter if needed. The breather on the valve cover simply has a screen in it and usually doesn't require replacement.
The dashpot does not have a hose connection. It is simply a "shock absorber" so the throttle blades don't slam shut too quickly if you release the throttle rapidly.
