I am Rebuild my 71 olds 350 now and was wondering if there is a gasket for the oil pump to the main bearing?

 

Yes. It should be in the gasket kit.

 

Actually no there isnt. No gasket from the pump to the cap. At least not on a 69 455. ill look it up now.

 

I thought there might be, but there is not one in the kit and I have been looking it up all over and have just found the gasket for the cover.

 

I had the same thought when i put my pump in. But no no gasket. Not even in the 71 350. So your good to go!

 

Thats odd, I had one in the gasket kit for my '77 350.

 

IDK When i did mine thats how it was. Then i did some research for the 71 350 and found nothing, other then the gasket for the oil pump rebuild thats it.

 

What part number did you get?

I got this number on Summit for a 77, and this is all that came up. Of course it does not have a picture, and has a generic description. Maybe they used one for the newer style blocks???

No gasket on the pump to cap to my knowledge.
Buicks had them, but not olds.

 

Well maybe felpro makes a gasket, but the engines dont cal for one. at least the 71 and down.

 

I am not sure what these are. Could they be what I am thinking of?

Dan, those are the oil filter adapter gaskets.
The little black oval one is for the oil pump cover, in case you want to pack the pump full of lubricant.

 

That must be what I was thinking was used for the oil pump. I was trying to think of what those gaskets were for and I forgot about the oil filter adapter.

I mess something up almost everyday. Yesterday, I soaked an old carb body in vinegar to get the rust off. Pulled it out today, and it ate a lot of the plating too.
Live and learn.

 

Now the carb is "patina'd"! All the rage now , especially for ratrods, of course you knew what you were doing!
