394 fuel pump with vacum pump
Hello all,
I am redoing my 62 Super 88 and it is an A/C car. It has an additional vacum pump on top of the fuel pump to augment the vacum for the system when needed. I am not doing an original restoration and will be replacing the brakes with a dual master cylinder and newer power assist. Do I need to use the fuel pump with the vacum pump on it? Or can I get away with just a fuel pump? Thanks

You should be able to find a vacuum reducing valve and tap into manifold vacuum. That might save having to hunt down a double action pump.
Or you could always block off the f/p mounting and run an electric pump since you're not going for originality.

You can buy the rebuild kit or have the pump rebuilt by
www.then-now.com. Your pump is most likely # 6585.
Your A/C and heater controls also work off the vacuum.
