Yet another dumb question...

Ok I was checking fluids and things and when I pulled the breather out of the valve cover to check it there was something rattling around inside it.

Now I haven't seen a breather in some time and don't quite remember what exactly is supposed to be inside. some kind of filter if I remember correctly.

Now do I replace the whole thing or does it open up and a filter is inserted inside or what? and would this cause any problems with that piece rattling around inside it...I'm thinking it may block the hole to the breather.

Also were these the same colour as the engine?

Thanks,
Rob

and don't worry I'm sure I will have some more dumb questions coming

Thanks BigJerr...that's what I thought....do you think it would run rough if the breather was blocked by whatever is inside it?

Nope - shouldn't affect running at all.

If something is rattling around, it's probably letting too much in (not filtering), rather than clogged. You can tell by blowing through it.
