wrong top plate and shroud

Just wanted you guys to take a look at what I have.
I think this top plate is not ment to go with this shroud.
It does work, just very hard to get the shroud out with this top plate.
Every other 72 cutlass top plate I've seen looks different with this shroud.
It had only one bolt holding the shroud on the passenger side.
I drilled a hole in the top plate and shroud and added another bolt on the driver side. I had to put a spacer in to make even with the other bolt. It works fine just wondering what year each one is for. Ron&Barb.

I believe you have the top plate designed for no shroud. Here's a couple threads you might read through. The first was another member with a similar situation, the second is a bunch of spare top plates I've got. You can compare the photos to see what the different ones look like. John

I'll confirm what John just said....

You have a top plate for a '70-2 Cutlass (maybe earlier as well?)non-fan shroud type setup. However, it looks like you've done a nice job adapting that one for use with a shroud.

Thanks, That's what I thought. I just replaced the fan clutch and I had trouble with the shroud being in the way. I wonder why someone would do this, but it does seem to work. I did add the extra bolt on the drivers side to hold it better. For what is worth at least you can see they can be put together. Thanks again, Ron&Barb.
