Do I have the correct radiator top plate?
Do I have the correct radiator top plate?
Hi Guys,
I'm installing the radiator back into my car after the engine change and I am having problems getting the fan shroud to fit. If I use my existing radiator top plate, the radiator is on an angle (see pic) and the fan shroud hits the A/C compressor. If I straighten the radiator the fan shroud fits, but the top plate holes are WAY off (see pics). Is the radiator suppose to be on an angle or straight?
From reading older posts, I think my top plate is from a non-A/C car without a shroud. Someone drilled the hole for the shroud at some point. Will having the correct top plate solve these problems?
Thanks for the help guys,
Dave
Sorry, its a 3 core radiator.

Yes, I think your right that its a non-shroud top plate with holes drilled for one. I've got a stack of extra top plates and just took some measurements. I believe the key measurement is between where it attaches to the core support and radiator. Let me know if you'd like to see any other photos. If your interested in the correct top plate I'd sell one for $15 plus shipping from Oregon. John

Hi Dave
Here's the two best ones. They'll still needed cleaned up and repainted, but there shouldn't be any rust pitting in the metal. Shipping would be $14.20 for a total of $29.20 to your door. Let me know if you'd like to see closeups of any areas. John
