Would my Hurst 307 intake work good on a 350?
Would my Hurst 307 intake work good on a 350?
Hey Guys, was wondering if I built a 350 for my 84 HO if I could reuse the intake? I'm sure it would be down on HP compared with a Performer RPM oe something but those are #450. Do the ports match up to 350 heads? I know Olds has different port sizes on engines sometimes. The accessories would bolt up well, but is made for a Qjet and I was thinking of a Holley. I think Professional Products has an intake too. Thanks Jackson
The only reason you would want to use the intake on the 350 is that all the little ports on top and hookups are already there making it fit the 307 ECM and EFE configuration if your plans were to try and "hide" the fact you have a 350. The intake ports are larger than the later roller cam 307 engines, so that's a plus as they're a better match for the 350 heads. As Joe says, absolutely no performance advantage compared to a stock cast iron or any other available aftermarket intake. AFAIK, there's been no square-bore factory intakes on the 350, and definitely not the 307. The quadrajet pattern is the standard fare, so if you want to use a holley, unless it's a spread-bore, you'll need an adapter.
