What type of puller for the crank gear?

Need to pull off the crank gear to install the new timing set.
I'm guessing I need the puller with the three claw type arms?
Thanks.

split it with a beasty chisel at the keyway and any screwdriver or pry bar will take it right off...

I'm always looking for an excuse to buy another useful tool.
I learned early that using the right tool saves time, money, and headaches.
I'd like to save the gear and key way if possible.
Thanks guys.

Don't forget the BFH if you need to employ this option!

You don't own a chisel and hammer already?
You don't work on Fords much, eh?

You are right, the right tool [BFH and chisel] saves time, money, and headaches. There is no reason to "save" a worn out timing gear. What are you going to do, replace just part of the timing set?? Of core snot.

I just did one recently and I used a craftsman pry bar and it came out pretty easy. Just pry 1 side at a time and when you have enough space to use a hammer just hit it out.
