No sealer, it seals by the one in the timing cover.

Yes . Its grooved pretty good. Almost thinking about just getting a new one now anyway. I just wasn't sure if I had to put anything in there or if the seal was all it needs. I'm at a standstill now anyway. I had to order another bolt and washer. Coming from California probably won't see them for a week.

FelPro Timing Gasket Set TCS45270 has the sleeve, if that's what the OP means.

I also use gasket eliminator on the o.d. before driving on any spedi/wear sleeve! Stops possible wicking underneath the sleeve.

Use moly camshaft lube so the new seal doesn't burn up. I use a bit of RTV on the washer to help seal the inside.

All good info.
Speedi-sleeve is readily available at many stores such as NAPA, National Automotive Lines [natauto.com], etc. Use Loctite or Yamabond or similar to seal sleeve to HarBal. Oh, and if you don't have a means to keep the sleeve perfectly square to the part during the install, it's likely to **** and bulge out the sleeve, possibly rendering it useless.

Be aware that a new balancer is probably Chinee and may be wobbly or otherwise fubar'd. You'd be better off with a good original, re-rubbered if need be.

I have seen in the CSM where they recommend a light bit of sealer spooge at the aft end of the balancer to seal the ID, but I have never bothered with that nor had a problem with leakage there. If I were to use sealer there, it'd probably be Form-a-gasket #2 non hardening, Yamabond [Yamaha dealer], or Hi-tack aviation 3H sealer.

All good info. Thanks for all your help. I will look into the sleeve and go from there. Meantime I'll see how much I can clean up Original balancer..

I place the speedy sleeves on a high watt light bulb and get pretty warm to help install. Putting dampner in freezer helps too. If groove in dampner is very bad, I have used JB weld or Loctite bearing surface repair then installed the sleeve while the fillers are still wet.
