roof seam sealant? what is this molding stuff?

roof seam sealant? what is this molding stuff?

Fixing to sand an prime the roof this wkend on my 69 cutty..only I see this caulk like seem around the roof rails..what is this an should I redo this or pull all the junk out an bondo it over like u do tile grouting? Any info helps

It's seam sealer. Do not replace it with bondo. Seam sealer remains flexible after it dries but can be painted. Get automotive seam sealer at any auto paint store.

Also the seam sealer goes on after final sanding of the primer, before sealer and paint. Atleast that's how I was taught. Do a search in the paint and body section. There are some tricks people use. Like using masking tape on both sides of where you want the seam sealer.

Sticky crap just try to lay down a nice even line and use less then you think. Then level deep down in and you wont have so much excess drag back on the sheet metal. Running a tape line does help i used 3m body caulk worked out great.

Wow thank you everyone!! It's awesome info!! An I work at NAPA so should be able to get a good sealer...but jus so I got it straight ..sand, paint(primer) then seal..an then primer over the seal rght? Thanks again Sooo much...really helpful!! I luv this site!!
