Question What is...this hole?

Swapped the Moroso 20480 oil pan today and I found this port. It had the gasket going around it and the new gasket goes over it. It didn't go anywhere with the old pan on. I could see where it was blocked off by the old pan, but with the new pan, it's as blocked as the gasket blocks it in this pic.

What is it? It looks like an oil drain hole, but no return into the pan. Can I leave it unblocked without a problem (I doubt it)

It's a blind hole that's simply used to locate the block for machining on the assembly line. Ignore it.

OK Thanks Joe.

There was some crud in it so I cleaned it out a bit and the flathead didn't go in very far.

I ran out or the black RTV too so I had to finish the job with clear RTV. I put the black on the block and mostly on the top of the one side of the gasket, then I finished up with the clear. Will the clear be OK?
