Permatex ULTRA GRAY. The others smell like crap and are too greasy. I like the parts to stick together and not slither all over the place. 10 times easier to scrape as well, because it doesn't booger up.

If you use a rubber gasket you can use a little High Tack to hold them in place on the cover while installing (technically you don't need sealer with rubber gaskets) if you use cork gaskets (I always do) you use a little black silicone on the cover side only put the gasket on the cover press in place let it sit for 15 minutes and install.

The Right Stuff is a great permanent sealant, but... I wouldn't use it on Valve Covers. For the rubber style, high tack, gaskacinch, etc. to glue it to the cover. Then nothing between the gasket and the head.

But wait, there's more... For the price of $30, you can pick up a set of Felpro 1658 valve cover gaskets. No sealant necessary, and they last forever.
