Well my 4th set of Sanderson headers were not the charm. Obviously 3rd time was the charm and stole all the quality control. The last 3 sets I got, two coated and one bare, one set was the center dump, all were decently well made. I sent a brand new set of uncoated Sanderson O351 headers through Century Performance, bought 2 sets without issue through them, for Cutlassefi to test on the dyno. I do still want Mark to test them but not sure how accurate the results will be. Here are the pics he sent. I am not impressed for the $400 US they cost. I did get a set of collectors that looked bent like that in one of my other sets. A tail pipe expander fixes that easily enough. Again, not impressed🤨.

Well, I don't remember my last plain steel set being near this crappy looking. Apparently the customer is supposed to finish Sanderson's work, here is the response🙄.Hello Christian:
These are typical of a raw metal, plain steel header set.
Any additional prep work that would be performed by Sanderson on a ceramic coated set is left up to the customer. This is why the plain steel headers are substantially less expensive than the coated ones.
The collector reducers are merely weld points for the under chassis exhaust piping. When the piping is fitted to the reducer it is common that a good portion of the reducer will be marked and cut off. This is normal. It would only be after fitting the down pipes that the welds are cleaned up (if desired), depending on the customer’s need for the application.
If port matching is desired by the customer they are free to do so, even though it will provide virtually zero benefit on a street application. If the application is more race or performance-oriented where an engine will spend considerably time over 4,500 RPM then a header designed for that sort of use should be used. Sanderson offers street rod, muscle car, and swap headers where the intended use fits the needs of those customers. I would offer that if this engine is making fair horsepower (400-450) and spending most of its operating time below 4,000 RPM, and the engine was dyno tested with the headers in their current form and then again after port matching, the difference would be minimal if anything at all.
Just like the Hedmans i long ago buyed, and passed on after seeing something which remembles the quality of these.
The answer about the quality seems to be typical bull*****, they always find a back to hide behind.
Yeah, another part we have to buy and finish, not cool at all. Really for $400 dollars they can't grind out the crap? To his answer, my motor should make 450 hp easy, does that mean after that point, their half *** work becomes a restriction? One guy had issues with 3 sets in row from Sanderson but Vince(DoubleV) had issues with American Racing sending the wrong headers and nearly everything else he had done or products bought. He even got a bad 350 build from Rocket Racing. Needless to say, this is the last set of headers I am buying from Sanderson and I will recommend them to no one.

Imagine spending that, then payingvshipping to Australia, to take them out of the box and think
Stevie Wonder must have welded these with his feet.
I too was disappointed with my set. Had i known i would have just made my own set. The drivers side didn't fit my application To add insult to injury. So seems QC hasnt changed.
Apparently, I was very lucky getting 3 decent sets. One of the 3 bad sets Double V got didn't fit his 85 442 either. The other two had holes in the welds I believe. At least mine don't need welding🤷♂️.
