Rocker Arm Choices

What choices are there for stud mount rockers for Olds 350/455s? What experiences can people share, pros & cons, for the available rockers that are out there? Scorpion, Crane, HS, etc?

I need to replace my existing Comp roller tips, thought I had the fulcums and slots worked out, but those things are whacked. A number of the pushrod cups are even off on them...

I use the Comp roller tip rockers and they work great. I don't know about the other ones.

If you have the 5/16 to 3/8 studs and guide plates you can just sub the roller tips for the inexpensive Comp cast roller rockers or just about any Ford roller rocker.

Hope this helps.

I prefer the Crower stainless, but dang, I was trying to keep this a somewhat budget build.

Yes, have the 5/16 x 3/8 studs and Comp guide plates ('69 #5 heads, larger valves, mild port work). A couple guide plates needed tweaking on assembly, but no biggie.

I'll take a look at the Ford rollers, see what's available, thanks for the tip.

I have standard height stamped steel Trans-dapt chrome valve covers, do the aluminum body rockers clear? Or will I have to doctor them? Or new covers?

And the Scorpions? Or should I avoid those? I was actually looking at the Cranes. Anyone comments there?

I used Sharp's on all my 351-C Fords with good results.

Just another. I run Scorpions. No problems to date. 3 years.

I was looking at the HS rockers, but seems they only have 7/16 ones?

Scorpions are fine and for the millionth time it's the poly locks that hit the valve covers not the rockers. Comp makes a shorter poly lock that works fine.

Sorry, did a search, didn't return what I was looking for, apologize for being redundant.

I've got the Comp polys that came with the roller tips, are those the shorties?

I tried that and probably works with a Ford rocker but,the stud is very short and if you want some treads left the rocker has to be chamfered at the bottom slot.

If lift and valve spring pressures are moderate, stock rockers work too.

I already switched to an adjustable setup, or I probably would use the OEs.

Question Would double or triple rocker cover gaskets............

Would double or triple rocker cover gaskets............clear Harland Sharp rollers (Stock polylocks) inside stock rocker covers???.
What I am asking is how much more clearance do you need?
Thanks

Ok for the last time it's not the rockers.
ANY STANDARD poly lock will hit the baffled stock valve covers, not the rocker.
How many gaskets you need depends solely on the height of the poly lock.

Not sure if someone has seen the Ramair Restoration website but they have a set of valve cover spacers .375" thick and with two sets of their steel core gaskets you could retain your stock valve covers and have extra room under there for most rockers ,just a thought.http://www.ramairrestoration.com/vco...er-spacer.html

So once again..............................
A stock Harland Sharp poly lock roller rockers will need How many rocker cover gaskets to clear the baffles and not have interference
Thanks
