rear main seal question

Does anyone know if you can replace an old style rear main rope seal with a Neopreme seal without removing the crank? I know you can do it with a rope seal. I already have the engine out and the old seal out. I found a new style neoprene seal for the 350 rocket which I'd rather use than the rope seal. I really dont want to remove the crank. Any insight will be helpful, thanks

There is no hiding from this monster. Remove the crankshaft.

Engine is out and on a stand. I know everyone says just remove the crankshaft, but thats the last thing I want to do. Guess I might just have to bite the bullet and take the damn crankshaft out!
