Rear main seal

The rear main seal on my 1988 307 is leaking. I've heard that the two piece rope seal can be replaced with a two piece rubber seal. Anyone heard of or done this? If you have, I'd sure like to know what seal you used.
Thanks all

SEARCH is still your friend. The 307 and 350 rear main seals are the same.

Yes AMC 258 straight 6 with the tabs cut off or a Ford 292 seal. There is now an actual Olds part number for the neoprene seal.

Rear main seal.

Thanks to both of you for the information. Would you have the olds part number available for the neoprene seal?
