Questions about 2bbl to 4bbl and putting in 200-4R

I've searched a lot, read a lot, but have a few minor questions about converting from the 2bbl to the 4bbl on my 1969 Cutlass with a 350. I have the major parts already in hand (manifold and quadrajet). However, I'm wondering if there are minor parts I may be unaware of (linkages, brackets, etc).

Once the manifold is replaced (any gotchas there I need to be aware of, or am I simply pulling off the 2bbl manifold and putting on the 4bbl), is the quadraject "drop-in" in the sense of using the same cables, brackets, fuel line, etc as the 2bbl?

Along similar lines, it currently has a th350 installed. The 200-4R will be modified to use vacuum for torque converter lockup via the kit. What brackets, linkages, etc, do I need to hook it up to the rebuilt 1973 quadrajet (for the 350) that I have on hand?

You will need a throttle cable bracket from a 1980s-vintage 307-powered car with a 200-4R. This bracket has a provision for the TV cable that must be connected to the carb.

The TV connection is critical. My preferred method is to use the primary throttle shaft from a later year qjet that has the TV nubbin. You can read lots of info about the TV at bowtieoverdrives.com. There are kits, but they're made to fit the chevy throttle, not the Olds.

As for the 2bbl/4bbl swap, it should be pretty straight forward. Since you have parts in hand, just make sure your vacuum and water taps line up or can be modified as needed. I would expect the fuel line is different - but again, just mock up the parts and start mapping things out. The choke may also need some attention, depending on how many parts you got (and which type of choke you want to run).

I just got my car running Monday 350 4 bbl w 200r4, I used Bowtie Over Drives system to hook up the TV and lock up converter. It work perfect right out of the box no messing around parting things together, everything you need in 2 simple kits. I did add an adjustable vacuum switch to there lock up converter system because I live in the mountains and I need the converter to unlock under load on steep grades.

Which TV kit did you use? when I looked hard at that about a year ago I thought it'd take some significant hacking to get their adapters to work on our linkage.

I can't quot the part # but I used the standard kit for a Holley on mine. If you have questions call them they seem to be real nice knowledgeable people.

Oh, you should've just said you were running a holley!
The problem is when using an Olds QJet. Bowtie has lots of kits for Holleys, Chevy QJets, and other common carbs.
The OP implies his QJet has the Olds linkage, which does *not* play nicely with the Bowtie kits.

Those brackets hold the cables in place behind the carb. You'll need something to replace the 2bbl bracket. Also, I just noticed that the 4bbl throttle cable is different than the 2bbl.

If you go with a 200r4 or 700r4 that needs the TV, then your cable bracket needs to have the TV provisions. That's the lower hole on those brackets.

*Separately*, the TV has to connect to the linkage on the carb itself. That's the other ball of wax here.

So, I never got this all straightened out. If I was to order from Jegs, what will I need?

I wouldn't use some universal bracket, the secret of getting that transmission to work properly is to get it hooked up perfect, the cable has to pull a certain percentage as the throttle opens or the trans won't build pressure properly.
Using an Olds Q-jet is one of the hardest combos to get to work right with that trans, that is the reason I converted to a Holley carb because you can get a complete bolt on kit that works perfect right out of the box. Call BowTie Overdrives and see what they suggest, they have kits for most Holley's, Edelbrock and some Q-jets, you might be able to use a Chevy Q-jet instead of a Olds Q-jet.

Honestly, you might want to contact a 200r4 specialty shop and ask them to put together a kit for you. The parts suppliers do not adequately cover what you're trying to do. You have to assemble it yourself, given then guidance above and tons of research.
