Pulling out a chevy

My sister killed a Chevy 350 in her '89 Suburban. I would like to replace it with an Olds motor. Anyone done a swap similar to this? It is already carbureted, so that is not an issue.

Is it as straightforward as it seems? Tranny adaptor for the 700-4r tranny, weld in frame side mounts and go?

Now to find me an Olds motor to build. Looking for 2 actually.

That era of Chev Truck had an optional Olds diesel engine and if you could find a doner truck that would solve some parts problems...

If you can find the brackets from the 350 diesel as noted above, then this is about a bolt-in. These brackets were all-metal and bolted to the Olds block. They used the existing Chevy-style clamshell frame mounts. Alternately, you can use the brackets from a 403 Trans Am, which seem to be more readily available. These are shorter than the truck brackets, so you need a spacer plate between the bracket and the block.

This sounds good. I will be on the lookout for some pieces and parts. Got a line on hand full of motors.....now the fun begins.
