Pilot bushing

Anyone have experience with pilot bushings like this? All the others I have had were just bronze bushings. These look to take a spanner and possibly unscrew. These are in the J2 I bought out of a race car. It had a 50 Oldsmobile standard innit.

Are you certain it isn't just a bronze bushing pressed into the middle ? The parts books only show one pilot bushing number for almost everything from the late 40's - 70 or so.

Clean some of the crud out of there with some brake clean and take another look.

Olds used a "retainer" on their pilot bushings. At least pre-65.
I haven't seen one of that type before. The ones I have seen are a shallow cup type that just press in.
It's listed in group 0.650 in the parts book.
I would just clean it up, put a little grease in it, and leave it as is.

If it's a J-2, it's going to be a 371.

Does anyone have a picture of stock 371 crank with standard bushing?
