Performer RPM Intake bolt #7 - how to remove
I always struggle with removing this bolt. usually have to have my friend come in whose got more skills. Installation instructions list it as a 3/8"s - 16 X2" bolt. Any suggestions on how to get this bolt out? I can get it to move a little bit, maybe 2 full rotations but then it rises up into the plenum and i can't get a bit on it.
What drive mechanism? Std issue 9/16 across flats hex drive may not work.
Other options are reduced-size hex or 12 point head, or internal hex or torx drive.
Many times an internal hex drive [socket head cap screw] is required, and a ball end driver to allow tool access.
As for removing your intake and bolt, maybe you can remove all the others, loosen this one, move the intake a little, remove the bolt a little, repeat until it's out.

On the rpm if your talking about the second bolt from the fr on the pass side idk how you got a regular bolt In there . I turned the head of a bolt like Octavia posted to even fit it there and even then it was tight. Edlebrock sells a bolt kit and that bolt has a super small head to it to clear the intake runner
sure. for me going with the performer was a smart move. i have a mild cam (Lunati 213/219 @ .050), highway gears (either 2.5X or 2.73 or whatever the numbers are). 750 CFM rochester quadrajet.
i put the RPM intake on a couple of years ago and immediately lost my low end torque. i probably should have taken it off and put the stock intake back on but i lived with it. the RPM did come on when i was at about 3-4K rpm. If i was doing say 60 miles an hour and stomped on the gas the car would really light up so there was definitely a benefit there but i wanted that low end torque back. as soon as i put the performer intake on without changing anything else i got all that torque back. I use the car mostly for just driving around town and occasional country road driving so its good for "light to light" fun. I can burn rubber now at the drop of a hat. i was thinking about changing those rear gears out for more torque but i don;t even think i have to do that now. i'm going to fool around with timing to see if i can get any more out of it.
