Hello:

The heads have been pulled and rebuild on a 71 olds 350. There is some old head gasket on the block. Using gasket remover now but is there a better way to get this off?

Sure: 2" ScotchBrite pad on a hand drill or die grinder.

Are you bolting the heads back on without tearing down the rest of the engine? If so be careful that you don't get particles you cut/scrape off down the cylinder bores. This could be grit that would damage the bores.
