Question Oil return from heads and lifter gallery

I cant find much information about the oil return path from the lifter gallery to the pan in the tech parts of this forum. I understand that itīs important to get the oil back to the pan as quickly as possible and the best way is that the oil doesnt collide whith the rotating crank. When I look at the block , the only path is thrue the small holes beside the lifters down to the crank. In the book written by Bob Gerometta there is a big oil return hole in the front of the block. Does the 350 block missing that one. Im a supposed to drill a hole. Please guide me in the right direction here.
I send pictures.

The hole is usually cast into 455,425,400 long and short stroke engines.
The 350 was NOT cast with this hole, although you could drill it- I'd be carefull.
Some have claimed that there is a slight performance increase when this is done, although I am not sure how much. It was said to aid venting in the crankcase.
I have no idea if this is valid, and I have not tried it myself.
This valley seems to hold a bunch of oil.

OK, thats good. Drill a hole if I think the engine needs it. My primary reason for the question was about the oil return to the pan, and I suppose the small block doesnīt need any better oil return for modest performance builds. Thankīs.
